Meet Your Navy: Rear Admiral Robert C. Nowakowski
Rear Admiral Nowakowski will be visiting the Museum & Library to discuss his service, his role as Deputy Commander to Navy Recruiting as well as Naval Education and Training Command, and the history of United States Navy.
Rear Adm. Robert C. Nowakowski is a native of Chicago, Illinois and is the son of a Korean/Vietnam war veteran and grandson of a WWII veteran. He is a 1992 graduate of Northwestern University in with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. He is also a graduate of San Diego University with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Business Administration from California State University San Marcos, and a Technical Engineer Program Management Certification from Stanford University.
His sea duty assignments include auxiliaries/electrical officer aboard USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), where he served as first lieutenant and assistant operations officer on two combat deployments in support of Operations Northern and Southern Watch. His shore duty assignments include course manager for the battle group/task group anti-submarine warfare (ASW) courses at Fleet ASW Training Center Pacific in San Diego, California.
Over his career, Rear Admiral Nowakowski has recieved a number of awards including the Legion of Merit (three awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), Navy Battle Efficiency ‘E’ (two awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (four awards) and various service, expeditionary, unit and campaign awards.
