All Quiet on the Western Front

Erich Maria Remarque, who served as a German soldier during the war, wrote All Quiet on the Western Front. Considered by many scholars to be the classic novel about World War I, it describes the traumatic experiences of soldiers during the war and the difficulties of returning to civilian life. It has since been repeatedly adapted for film and television.  Lewis Milestone’s Academy award winning version of All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) being the version most people remember.
