USMC Hospital Corpsman Knife

Initially issued to Navy Corpsman before and during WWII, these knives were intended to be used by non-combatants to create splints and stretchers. By 1943 the Marine Corps was issuing the knife to all infantry squads, as Marines found the knife’s ability to chop through the tropical growth superior to previously issued machetes.
