The American Cemetery at Aisne-Marne contains 2,289 graves. Most of those buried in Aisne-Marne fought in the Marne valley in the summer of 1918. The cemetery is located next to Belleau Wood in France. For the Marine Corps, it is hallowed ground because the Marines who lost their lives in the Battle of Belleau Wood are buried here.
