Mitchell, William 1921
Brigadier General William Lendrum "Billy" Mitchell (1879 – 1936) served as the commander of American air units during World War I. After the war, he advocated for air power. After his death, he was promoted to Major General and had an American military plane named after him (North American B-25 Mitchell). He is considered the father of the United States Air Force.
