With over 250 archival collections that focus on the personal stories of citizen soldiers, the Museum & Library has materials related to service members in nearly every U.S. war, with our strengths being World War I, World War II, and U.S. Army service members.

World War II veteran Hershel "Woody" Williams—who valiantly served with the 3rd Marine Division at the Battle of Iwo Jima—has contributed many unique items to the Museum & Library's collection, including his original Medal of Honor and citation.
Among the highlights of the Museum & Library's collection, this is an original New Hampshire militiaman's pocket journal, written between 1777 and 1779.
This original 45-star American flag produced in 1898 is emblazoned with the words "Remember the Maine," in reference to the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine earlier that year.
This glass photographic plate produced in 1901 features a young Benjamin O. Davis, who would eventually become the first African American U.S. Army general.
